Our History
J.G. Carlin & Co. was founded as a sole trade in 1981 by Joseph G. Carlin. The practice became a partnership in 1992 and was incorporated as a limited company in 2011. For over 40 years, the firm has served businesses, individuals, and families across Donegal and the North West, building long-standing relationships grounded in trust, expertise, and a genuine understanding of local enterprise.

Joseph G. Carlin

Founder and principal of J.G. Carlin & Co., Joseph has over 40 years of experience in accountancy, taxation, and financial advisory. A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Qualified Financial Adviser, he established the firm and has guided hundreds of businesses and individuals through every stage of growth — from start-ups to succession planning. His deep knowledge of the local business landscape and commitment to personal service remain the foundation of the firm.
James O’Donnell
BA, FCA, QFA
James is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and a Qualified Financial Adviser. With extensive experience in audit, accounting, and financial planning, he brings analytical rigour and practical judgement to every engagement. James works closely with business owners on compliance, financial reporting, and strategic planning.
John Joseph Carlin
FCCA, CTA, QFA
John Joseph is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a Chartered Tax Adviser, and a Qualified Financial Adviser. He advises on tax planning, business restructuring, and personal finance, and provides specialist guidance on all aspects of Irish and UK taxation.
